Christy Guyer, the founder of Normalize the Period, explains that many women today still face inequality and injustice, especially when it comes to their bodies. Girls are still told that their periods are something to be hidden or ashamed of, which leads to miseducation and disempowerment. Her new card game aims to change the narrative.

The launch of Time Periods heralds a new way of empowering girls and women to talk about their bodies and natural cycles. Christy says that she has gamified the female experience for people of all ages to break stigmas through conversation and play inside this game.
The engaging card game plays on words, not only referencing a woman’s “time” for her period but also showcasing different time periods of “she-roes” – women who bravely stood up for themselves and contributed an invaluable part of “her-story”. Christy Guyer partnered with Jean Berry, a business game strategist, and Astrid Mueller, a visual artist to develop this unique women’s empowerment deck.
Though created as group game, Time Periods can be played by one’s self. Players can pull out a card at random to receive a blessing or reminder for the day. The deck is meant to re-message the way women experience their bodies including their period, approaching life with curiosity and anticipation for the sacredness of womanhood.
Those who attend the Kickstarter launch on October 29, 2022, will receive special gifts and play the game first-hand with women from all over the world. By choosing to support the kickstarter campaign, they may receive a game, support girl’s missions around the world or even be a She-Ro inside the game.
