EYES, or the Early Years Education System, has served pre-K children and younger at their facilities across Canada for many years. They have expanded their focus to assist children entering primary school, with a specific focus on empathy and attentiveness that may help them navigate these new challenges.
This program is also available as an addition or alternative to kindergarten for children who may not be best suited for a traditional learning environment.

The recently updated program available covers the basics of phonics, language arts, math, and basic concepts like how to read a calendar, clock, and various graphs. The classes are targeted towards special needs children, but may also be useful for children who are falling behind in these areas or are having difficulty with social development.
The program encourages teamwork and cooperation through regular, structured group sessions. This is in line with EYES’ philosophy that learning is best accomplished as a community, and that when children form bonds with one another, they retain information more easily.
This collaborative learning style is also intended to help kids connect with their place in the world and in their community.
EYES Child Care’s expansion into this marginally older demographic comes after seeing great success in their programs for children ages 1-5. These programs have provided Canadian children facing developmental challenges with an educational outlet for over 20 years, and now they will be able to help more children with special needs.
A spokesperson for the institution said, “EYES’ common-sense practices and holistic teaching environment strives for equity over excellence. EYES Child Care is dedicated to making every child’s experience a positive one and to making their foundation strong by providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment.”
EYES Child Care has facilities all over Canada, including several in the larger Toronto area. They are now accepting applications for new enrollments, the form for which can be found on their website.
